Hi Lovelies, so I've been busy as usual. I feel like I have a full time job finding a job. I know it's only been a little more than a month, but I'm ready to get out and do something, be a productive citizen you know? I told you guys that I was going to a job fair. Oh my goodness was that crazy! Apparently I'm not the only one in need of a job because there were 100's of people there. I kid you not. All these people were there to be hired at one hotel! It's a brand new hotel that's opening up by the beach and it seems everyone wants to work at this one hotel. It was a 3 day job fair so I figured I'd go on the 2nd day this way they wouldn't forget me after the 1st day, and I figured by the 3rd day I wouldn't appear that enthusiastic since it's the last day of the fair.I walked in and was thisclose to walking back out because of the lines of people and crowded room. Oh my goodness it was crazy. I was directed to the end of a long line and after about a 2 hour wait, yes 2 hrs then I was given an application. I got there at 9:30am and didn't leave until 3pm!! I mean it's not like I desparately need money, but I'm desperately wanting to feel productive and do something. So I waited. As I waited I became frustrated because I saw that the only jobs left that were available weren't my top choices. I wanted to do front desk/concierge/ guest service stuff. As I was sitting/waiting, I found out apparently all of these positions were filled on the 1st day! Argh!! Talk about crummy luck. I could have been there on the 1st day and possibly had one of those jobs. Darn I was and still kind of am upset about missing that opportunity. However, maybe it's a sign that something better is in store for me.
When I finally was called for my turn I had a quick meet and greet with one of the directors who loved me and hired me on the spot for a hostess position. I'm excited to have been offered something, but upset that it's not the position I wanted. The economy sucks and with experience and education it still sucks. So until I find something that is better and that I'm more qualified for I'l have some fun at a brand new hotel working as a hostess. It will give me something to do in the meantime and bring us a little extra cash, plus it's right on the beach. Not my ideal job in the slightest, but hey you do what you gotta do I guess. I'm putting my big head aside and doing what I can for now.
On another note, I've failed to mention we found a new church. We love it. First of all never in my life have I lived or been in for that matter a place that has so many churches in one city it's unbelievable you guys. So I guess we got lucky. We went to one church and really enjoyed the Sunday service, and were really looking to get involved. We had so much fun listening every Sunday we figured we'd love some of the small groups they had to offer. Boy were we wrong. First of all the people at these groups looked at us like we were insane people moving from CA, second um all they did was turn on a dvd that was an hour and a half long and the most boring thing ever and call that a Bible study. Um not quite what we're looking for, more interaction and study please. We tried a couple other groups and they were all just the same, what is wrong with these people?

I was frustrated, hubs was frustrated. We've just been feeling like we want to belong somewhere, and feel accepted. Meeting new people our age would be nice too, it's nice to have a great hubs but having friends so far away now is tough sometimes. Finally, oh finally we hit the jackpot lol. We decided to try a new church and we love it even more. It's our style and both the Sunday services and small groups are great. We've become involved in a young married couples group and we have found some awesome people. They don't look at us like we've lost it, moving here from CA, and it's been great having the couples be so welcoming to us. In fact a good percentage of the couples that attend are associated with the military too so we have lots in common. We're all trying to figure out our place.

Yay for the job! Who knows - maybe you'll start as a hostess and quickly find a way to move into one of the other positions you wanted or something even better :) You never know what is in store for you. And I think that's great you found a church & young adults group you like - we have been here for over a year and have yet to find somewhere we both enjoy!

Congrats on the job, even though it isn't your dream job, just think about how nice it will be to have something to do! I'm so glad you found a church that you enjoy!
Congrats on the job even though it wasnt exactly what you were looking for and double congrats for finding a new awesome church.
I am glad you found a job even if it is not your dream job! The economy is so BAD right now! I am also happy that you have found a church. There is nothing like finding a home in a church. So so happy for you!
That's awesome that they hired you on the spot!
With mass hires like that, there is typically a lot of turnover in the beginning, meaning good opportunity to move up a little more quickly than would otherwise happen. So do your best, prove your worthy, and maybe when someone leaves in a higher up position, you'll be in a prime place to move on up the chain!
